Introduction
In science, a theory is a rigorously tested statement of general principles that explains observable and recorded aspects of the world. A scientific theory therefore describes a higher level of understanding that ties "facts" together. A scientific theory stands until proven wrong. The Darwinian Theory of evolution has withstood the test of time and thousands of scientific experiments; nothing has disproved it since Darwin first proposed it more than 150 years ago.

Tetrapod Limbs
The Limbs of Tetrapods all have the same pattern of bones. If you want to see concrete evidence of evolution, look no further than your hand or your foot. Five fingers, five toes. There's nothing magical about the number, yet five digits at the end of their limbs is a motif that runs through all the...more.
Polar Bears and Penguins
The Pattern of Organisms around the globe is evidence of the evolutionary origin of biodiversity. Polar bears live in the Arctic, but not the Antarctic. For penguins, the picture is reversed. Darwin, Wallace and the other 19th century naturalists who traveled widely were fascinated by the distribution of animals and plants in their habitats around...more.
Evolution of the Eye
When evolution skeptics want to attack Darwin's theory, they often point to the human eye. How could something so complex, they argue, have developed through random mutations and natural selection, even over millions of years? Through natural selection, different types of eyes have emerged in evolutionary history -- and the human eye isn't...more.

Evidence and observation are the building blocks of all scientific inquiry; evolutionary science is no different. Evidence in the form of the fossil record, geological formations, and genetics attest to change having taken place and give clues to how evolution works. Fossils show us a great deal about earlier human evolution. The fossil record certainly has gaps, mostly because the conditions required to create fossils have been rare ever since life began on Earth. A very small percentage of animals that have lived and died ever became fossils. Thus, many pieces of the puzzle are missing; some will never be found. Nonetheless, we have many, many fossils that illustrate evolutionary transitions between fish and amphibians, between reptiles and mammals, between dinosaurs and birds, and in many lineages such as whales and horses. And new fossils continue to reveal transitional forms that some said don't exist.
